Umberto I and Vittorio Emanuele III of Savoy carried out an integration policy which involved the noble families of Italian pre-unitary states. New noble families were created; ancient nobles were reintegrated thanks to the action of the Consulta Araldica;
a new monarchic sociability was enhanced; there was Court integration and military honours were granted. During Vittorio Emanuele III’s reign, a substantial part of Italian aristocracies established new links of fidelity with the House of Savoy
