Resumen de Arqueología y Turismo en territorio atacameño (Norte de Chile): entre la autenticidad y el etnodesarrollo

A partir de tres ejes temáticos que se articulan entre sí, en este artículo discutimos la compleja relación entre arqueología y turismo en la región atacameña, norte de Chile. Para ello reflexionamos sobre los procesos de modernización y patrimonialización impulsados por el Estado chileno, caracterizados por una articulación creciente entre el extractivismo minero, científico y turístico. Analizamos el rol del Museo de San Pedro de Atacama y la arqueología en la construcción de la autenticidad atacameña, y el papel de la administración de sitios arqueológicos en las políticas de etnodesarrollo.

In this article we discuss the complex relation between archeology and tourism in the Atacameño region, northern Chile. We reflect on the modernization and patrimonialization processes promoted by the Chilean State, characterized by a growing articulation between mining, scientific and tourist extractivism. We analyze the role of archaeology and the Museum of San Pedro de Atacama in the construction of Atacameño authenticity and the role of the administration of archaeological sites in ethno-development policies.
