Desde que fue publicado por el Tribunal de Nuremberg en Alemania el llamado Código de Nuremberg el 27 de agosto de 1947 , fecha posterior a la finalización de los horrores de la segunda guerra mundial , en la cual médicos nazis practicaron experimentos inhumanos en prisioneros, ha cobrado cada vez más importancia y prioridad el tema de hacer ciencia con conciencia, es decir, tener en cuenta el imperativo ético de proteger a los sujetos que hacen parte de una investigación, proteger su vida , su bienestar , sus derechos.
