    La situación de los trabajadores fronterizos españoles en Gibraltar, ha sido uno de los elementos más delicados con ocasión de la salida de Reino Unido de la UE a través del brexit. El impacto económico y social de estos trabajadores fronterizos en la Colonia es enorme, por lo que cualquier modificación en su regulación y libre circulación puede tener importantes efectos en toda la zona. Las distintas normas y acuerdos alcanzados en los últimos tiempos pretenden, en definitiva, mantener su delicado status quo, facilitando de este modo el cruce en los controles fronterizos. Por otra parte, el reciente mandato del Consejo para las negociaciones entre la UE y Reino Unido sobre Gibraltar parece establecer un marco jurídico adecuado como un primer paso para la normalización de la figura del trabajador fronterizo

    he situation of Spanish border workers in Gibraltar has been one of the most sensitive issues in the context of the UK's exit from the EU through Brexit. The economic and social impact of these frontier workers in the Colony is enormous, so any modification in their regulation and free movement could have important effects on the whole area. The various rules and agreements reached in recent times are ultimately intended to maintain their delicate status quo, thus facilitating crossing at border controls. On the other hand, the recent Council mandate for the EU-UK negotiations on Gibraltar seems to establish a suitable legal framework as a first step towards the normalisation of the figure of the frontier worker
