Este trabajo aborda el mercado privado de mercedes de hábito de las órdenes militares castellanas, actividad de carácter ilícita, entre 1686 y 1700. Se centra, de manera más específica, en las enajenadas por esta vía que se destinaron para residentes en América, mostrando los mecanismos utilizados, las vías por las que transitaron y los principales actores involucrados. Esta investigación se sustenta en el análisis del total de las mercedes que fueron otorgadas por Carlos II en dicho periodo.
This paper deals with the private market for grants of the habit of the Castilian military orders, an illicit activity, between 1686 and 1700. It focuses, more specifically, on those disposed of in this way and destined for residents in America, showing the mechanisms used, the routes through which they passed and the main actors involved. This research is based on the analysis of all the grants that were awarded by Charles II during this period.
