    El proceso colonizador llevado a cabo por las potencias europeas en el continente africano a partir del siglo XIX fue uno de los hitos más importantes de su historia. A raíz de la búsqueda de nuevos territorios y recursos, las principales naciones europeas se abalanzaron sobre África con el fin de ampliar sus dominios y avanzar en el proceso de industrialización que se estaba llevando a cabo en Europa.

    Sin embargo, la colonización del continente trajo consigo multitud de enfrentamientos, revueltas, rebeliones y guerras debido a que los pobladores del mismo se negaban a formar parte y a depender de un imperio colonial, queriendo mantener sus formas de vida, costumbres y tradiciones.

    Uno de los territorios afectados en el continente africano fue África del Sudoeste, la actual Namibia, que tuvo que hacer frente a la ocupación alemana, produciéndose durante este período uno de los mayores genocidios de toda su historia.

    The colonization process carried out by European powers in the African continent from the nineteenth century was one of the most important milestones in its history. Following the search for new territories and resources, the main European nations pounced on Africa in order to expand their domains and advance the industrialization process that was taking place in Europe.

    However, the colonization of the continent brought a multitude of confrontations, revolts, rebellions and wars because its inhabitants refused to be part of and depend on a colonial empire, wanting to maintain their ways of life, customs and traditions.

    One of the affected territories in the African continent was Southwest Africa, the current Namibia, which had to deal with the German occupation, producing during this period one of the greatest genocides in its history.
