Las fuentes judiciales constituyen una herramienta muy importante para la reconstrucción de la historia de América. A través de los diversos documentos que albergan los repositorios de carácter judicial se ha podido visibilizar y poner en palabras las voces de diversos actores sociales, mujeres y varones, que habían estado al margen de la investigación historiográfica, permitiendo un abordaje desde diversas perspectivas de análisis en las últimas décadas. En esta ponencia nos proponemos analizar la riqueza que contienen las fuentes testamentarias de mujeres de San Juan de la Frontera en la primera mitad del Siglo XIX. Este tipo de documento contribuye al conocimiento y revelación de las mujeres en la medida en que se trata de un testimonio en el cual se las percibe con mayor independencia, expresándose sin limitación ni trabas judiciales, siendo respetadas en sus deseos y aspiraciones. Además, se trata de un documento notarial de gran valor para el avance y desarrollo de la historia de las mujeres y los estudios de género.

The judicial sources constitute a very important tool for the reconstruction of the history of America. Through the various documents that house the judicial repositories, it has been possible to make visible and put into words the voices of various social actors, women and men, who had been outside the historiographic research, allowing an approach from various perspectives of analysis in the last decades. In this paper we propose to analyze the wealth contained in the testamentary sources of women of San Juan de la Frontera in the first half of the 19th century. This type of document contributes to the knowledge and revelation of women to the extent that it is a testimony in which they are perceived with greater independence, expressing themselves without limitation or judicial obstacles, being respected in their wishes and aspirations. It is also a notarial document of great value for the advancement and development of women's history and gender studies.
