La educación afectivo-sexual enriquece el desarrollo personal y sexual saludable, que resulta clave en la construcción de una sociedad más igualitaria y democrática. El propósito de este artículo es revisar la literatura sobre la educación afectivo-sexual en España para dar cuenta del estado dela cuestión y contribuir a explicar por qué el debate en torno a la misma continúa abierto. El objetivo es no solo presentar la diversidad de enfoques divergentes, sino también capturar las tensiones inherentes en relación a la puesta en marcha de la educación afectivo-sexual en el escenario español. El artículo evidencia que la educación afectivo-sexual ha evolucionado, presentado avances y retrocesos en función al entorno socio-político y que como competencia de las Comunidades Autónomas, ha tenido un desarrollo territorial desigual e incluso divergente entre los centros educativos. La revisión pone además de relieve tanto las limitaciones que presenta investigar en esta temática, como algunas recomendaciones para futuras investigaciones

Afective-sexual education enriches healthy personal and sexualdevelopment, which is a key in building a more egalitarian and democraticsociety. The purpose of this article is to review the literature on afective-sexual education in Spain to account for the state of afairs and to helpexplain why the debate around still remains open. The objective is not onlyto present the diversity of divergent approaches, but also to capture theinherent tensions in relation to the implementation of afective-sexualeducation in Spain. The article shows that afective-sexual education hasevolved, presenting advances and setbacks depending on the socio-political environment and that as a competence of the AutonomousCommunities, it has had an uneven territorial development and evendivergent among educational centers. The review also reveals thelimitations of research in this area, as well as some recommendations forfuture research
