Cuestiones bioéticas en investigaciones en las que participan pacientes con esquizofrenia

    Dada la vulnerabilidad de los pacientes con Esquizofrenia y el carácter subjetivo de los síntomas, con sus continuas modificaciones y la importancia de estos en la calidad de vida, se decide realizar una revisión sistemática sobre el tema, con el objetivo de determinar los aspectos bioéticos relacionados con la evaluación psicológica de estos individuos. Se hallaron regulaciones internacionales y nacionales de las investigaciones de ciencias de la salud que tienen en cuenta las necesidades especiales de este grupo de pacientes. Por tanto, se concluyó que la investigación científica en pacientes con Esquizofrenia es todo un reto para el profesional de la salud, pues debe tener en cuenta los principios éticos, fundamentalmente: la autodeterminación, beneficio y justicia, en pacientes que de manera general no presentan un juicio crítico adecuado, por lo que el consentimiento informado se busca, en la mayoría de los casos, con la familia o tutores legales. Además, se sustenta en regulaciones internacionales y nacionales, que buscan el beneficio sobre el riesgo de este tipo de paciente y que limitan al investigador, negándole la posibilidad de ejecutar investigaciones que no tengan una fundamentación bioética adecuada.

    Given the vulnerability of patients with Schizophrenia and the subjective nature of the symptoms, with their continuous modifications and the importance of these in the quality of life, it was decided to carry out a systematic review on the subject, in order to determine the bioethical aspect related to the psychological evaluation of these individuals. International and national regulations for health science research were found that take into account the special needs of this group of patients. Therefore, it was concluded that scientific research in patients with Schizophrenia is a challenge for the health professional, since it must take into account the ethical principles, fundamentally: self-determination, benefit and justice, in patients who generally do not present an adequate critical judgment, so informed consent is sough, in most cases, with the family or legal guardians. In addition, it is supported by international and national regulations, which seek the benefit over the risk of this type of patient and which limit the researcher, denying him the possibility of carrying out research that does not have an adequate bioethical foundation.
