The objective of this paper is to introduce user-friendly blind stick with added smartnessusing sensor module. For visually impaired persons a smart blind stick hasbeen launched here to help them, assist in detecting obstacles without shaking andstretching the ordinary blind stick. The smart blind stick uses the ultrasonic sensors,accelerometer, GPS and GSM modules in the closed loop manner. With the help ofthese sensors actuated stick obstacles within distance of 3m can be detected easilyusing SONAR (Sound Navigation and Ranging) principle. In addition, to locate theposition and navigation of the visually impaired person GPS module is used. Usingthe GSM module, the blind person can send the emergency message to his guardianor friends who is close to them by sending the notification if the blind person in anythreatening condition. Our prototype model with Arduino Nano board connectedwith sensors and GSM/GPS module detected the obstacle and based on the thresholddistance we set (1meter) ,the board warned the person with Buzzer sound.
