An analysis of positive critical vocabulary found in the Occitan Vidas or mini- biographies of the troubadours. Of the 117 troubadours and trobairitz described in 101 Vidas and in accompanying razos, roughly three-quarter receive a positive evaluation, though the aesthetic value of these judgments is very limited. The Vidas offer some insights into the discriminating judgments of Uc de Saint Circ and confirm negativity bias in critical descriptions.
