    Existe entre 1815 y 1875 un periodo poco estudiado de las relaciones franco-españolas. Sin embargo aparecen eventos que periódicamente muestran la existencia de enlaces entre España y Francia. Este articulo pretende estudiar uno de estos eventos: la expedición de la Legión Extranjera Francesa en España para combatir la rebelión carlista entre 1835 y 1839. Trabajando especialmente con la serie GR E 4 de los archivos militares franceses (Service Historique de la Défense), donde se encuentran los documentos pertinentes a los asuntos españoles, y siguiendo un plan cronológico justificado por la presencia de eventos importantes para la Legión, demostramos como la política demasiado prudente del rey de los franceses Luis-Felipe tuvo como consecuencia el alargamiento de la guerra, y el abandono en España de la Legión, aunque esta sea un apoyo apreciable para el bando constitucional.

    The relationship between France and Spain during the 19th century stays diversely studied to this day. The period between the years 1815 and 1875 particularly lacks investigations despite the existence of various events showing the links between the two countries. This article studies one such event: the expedition of the Foreign Legion to fight the Carlist rebellion between 1835 and 1839. Working on the GR E 4 series of the French military archives (Service Historique de la Défense), which contains documents on the Spanish matters during the 19th century, and following a chronological plan justified by the presence of events important both for the Legion and for the political state of both countries, we demonstrate in our work how the exceedingly prudent foreign policy of king Louis-Philippe led to the rise in strength of the rebels and to the abandon of the Legion, despite the regiment being a consequent help to the loyalist army.
