  This article searchs to analyze the repre-sentations of gendre, the family and thesexuality divulged by the medical spee-ches. The familiar institution, to the iden-tified being as the cell of the society, wouldhave to be regenerated, civilized and hy-gienized. In this process, the sexual mo-dels had been delineated assuming the wo-man the paper of mother and the man thefunction of father and supplier. These ques-tions have as context the final years ofcentury XIX and the first decades of theXX, in São Paulo, when it was started tocoexist the references of modernity and theprogress.

  Este artigo busca analisar as representações de gênero, da família e da sexualidade propalados pelos discursos médicos através dos materiais de campanhas. A instituição familiar, ao ser identificada como a célula da sociedade, deveria ser regenerada, civilizada e higienizada. Nesse processo, os modelos sexuais foram delineados, assumindo a mulher o papel de mãe e o homem, a função de pai e provedor. Essas questões têm como contexto os anos finais do século XIX e as primeiras décadas do século XX, na cidade de São Paulo, quando se começava a conviver com as referências da modernidade e do progresso.
