    Th e poetics of myopia, the inferior passages, the silence, the absence of music in the movie, the documental ballast, and the fi delity to aesthetics of Guimarães Rosa are themes raised by the feature fi lm “Mutum” (2007), na adaptation of the novel “Campo Geral”, better known as “the story of Miguilim”, from the book “Corpo de baile” (1956). We will see how the movie recreates the literary text and the very work method of the writer, who traveled the Brazilian hinterland, collecting elements for his stories.

    A poética da miopia, as paisagens interiores, o silêncio, a ausência de música no filme, o lastro documental e a fidelidade à estética de Guimarães Rosa são temas suscitados pelo longa-metragem “Mutum” (2007), uma adaptação da novela “Campo Geral”, do Corpo de baile (1956), mais conhecida como “a estória de Miguilim”. Veremos como o filme recria o texto literário e o próprio método de trabalho do escritor, que fazia viagens de pesquisa pelo sertão do Brasil, recolhendo elementos para suas estórias.
