Os 40 anos de “Trabalho e Capital Monopolista” de Harry Braverman: a persistente fragilidade sindical nos assuntos relacionados ao processo de trabalho

    This article is inspired by 40th anniversary of the first edition of the book Labor and Monopoly Capital: The Degradation of Work in the Twentieth, by Harry Braverman. First, we present the context in which the work emerge and resumed the general lines of “labour process debate”, in which the book in question has occupied significant space for having revived the intellectual production on the subject of the labor process. Subsequently, we will see that the work of Braverman instigated important theoretical extensions and also criticism, some of which we drawn to the attention. The article continues by presenting some examples of international trade union practices, as well as that of the Central Única dos Trabalhadores – CUT (Unified Workers Central), in order to show the pertinence and the effective possibility of taking the theme of the labor process as a problem of union interest. At the end, we argue that the union influence in the affairs of production, despite some successes and many efforts, is still limited, denoting a continuing weakness of the Brazilian trade unions to negotiate the innovations in the labor process that are implemented within the companies.

    Este artigo é inspirado pela passagem dos 40 anos da primeira edição do livro Labor and Monopoly Capital: The Degradation of Work in the Twentieth, de Harry Braverman. Inicialmente apresentamos o contexto no qual a obra emerge e retomamos as linhas gerais do “labour process debate” no qual o livro em questão ocupou espaço significativo por ter reanimado a produção intelectual sobre o tema do processo de trabalho. Posteriormente veremos que o trabalho de Braverman instigou importantes prolongamentos teóricos e também críticas, algumas das quais trouxemos a consideração. Na sequencia do artigo apresentamos alguns exemplos de práticas sindicais internacionais, bem como a da Central Única dos Trabalhadores – CUT, no intuito de mostrar a pertinência e a possibilidade efetiva de tomar o tema do processo de trabalho como uma problemática de interesse sindical. Ao final argumentamos que a influencia sindical nos assuntos da produção a despeito alguns êxitos e muitos esforços ainda é reduzida denotando uma persistente fragilidade das entidades sindicais brasileiras para negociar as inovações no processo de trabalho que são implementadas nas empresas.
