  En este trabajo se pretende elaborar una conexión entre estos crímenes y el contexto sociocultural e histórico que había detrás de la oleada de asesinatos en serie dada entre principios de los setenta y mitad de los noventa en EEUU. Para ello, en primer lugar, se han establecido las bases teóricas sobre qué es un asesino en serie y cuál es la realidad estadística de esta llamada oleada de asesinatos en serie que hemos establecido en el período entre 1974 y 1994. Seguidamente, se ha analizado detenidamente cada aspecto mínimamente significativo de las tres décadas que abarca esta oleada, los ochenta y los noventa, como la política, la música, el cine o el estilo de vida de la sociedad. Después, viendo tres casos de asesinos en serie que han pasado a formar parte de nuestra cultura actual, se intentará explicar el por qué de la importancia de este contexto previamente analizado. Se pretende establecer esta relación como un importante condicionante en los crímenes, tanto para las motivaciones, como para el modus operandi, ritual y firma, para poder concluir que estos condicionantes contextuales propiciaron que se diera tal oleada en Estados Unidos.

  In this paper, we will try to elaborate a connection between these crimes and the sociocultural and historical context behind the wave of serial killings that took place between the early seventies and the mid-nineties in the USA. To this end, first of all, we have established the theoretical basis about what a serial killer is and what the statistic reality of this socalled wave of serial killings is, that we have set up on the period between 1974 y 1994. Subsequiently, each minimally significant aspect of the three decades covered by this wave, the seventies, the eighties and the nineties, such as politics, music, cinema or society's way of life, has been carefully analysed. Then, by looking at three cases of serial killers that have become part of our current culture, we will try to explain why this previously analysed context is so important. The aim is to establish this relationship as an important conditioning factor in the crimes, both for the motivations and for the modus operandi, ritual and signature, in order to be able to conclude that these contextual conditioning factors led to such a wave in the United States.
