    Se analizan los proyectos y propuestas realizadas por y para la Junta de Obras del Puerto de Melilla para la construcción del cargadero de mineral de la CEMR en el periodo marzo de 1908 a enero de 1914. En julio de 1914, la CEMR presentó el Anteproyecto de un cargadero de mineral y el 15 de diciembre de 1915, presentó el Proyecto firmado por Alfonso Gómez-Jordana Sousa. El 3 de junio de 1920, se presentó el proyecto definitivo, aumentando la capacidad de almacenamiento y el ritmo de carga y sustituyendo la estructura metálica por hormigón armado. La construcción comenzó en 1921 y las obras más importantes se desarrollaron hasta 1924, finalizando en 1925 y cargándose el primer barco en Enero de 1926. El embarque de mineral comenzó en Noviembre de 1914, realizándose éste a mano mediante barcazas y remolcadores. Este sistema, utilizado hasta 1925, permitió un embarque máximo de 200.000 t/año. La puesta en marcha del cargadero permitió unos embarques de mineral de hasta 1.000.000 t/año.

    The projects and proposals made by and for the Works Board of the Port of Melilla for the construction of the CEMR ore ship loader are analysed between March 1908 and January 1914. In july 1914, the CEMR presented the ore ship loader’s project draft and, on the 15th December 1915, they presented the project signed by Alfonso Gómez-Jordana Sousa. On the 3th June 1920, the final project was presented, increasing storage capacity and loading rate and replacing the metal structure for reinforced concrete. Construction began in 1921 and the most important works were developed until 1924, ending in 1925 and loading the first ship in January 1926. The ore’s shipments began in November of 1914, being carried out by hand by barges and tugboats. This system, employed until 1925, allowed a maximum shipment of 200,000 t / year. The commissioning of the ship loader allowed ore’s shipments of up to 1,000,000 t / year.
