Dona Vataça Lascaris, daughter of a greek princess and an italian count, came even in the childhood, to the Iberic peninsula with her mother and brothers.
Vataça came to Portugal with the princess Isabel of Aragon, who came to marry the king Dinis of Portugal and become queen of Portugal. The strong relationship developed by Vataça with Portugal, can’t be explained only in the official version, that nothing remains to Vataça in Portugal except the great friendship to her relative, the Queen Saint Isabel of Aragon. Certainly existed something more and enough strong and important. Even four centuries after her death, in 1336, in the middle XVIIIth century, we still find her name, and names related to the lineage, used by women of her feminine descent.

Dona Vataça Lascaris, filha de uma princesa grega e de um conde italiano, veio, ainda na infância, para a Península Ibérica com a sua mãe e seus irmãos.
Vataça veio para Portugal com a Princesa Isabel de Aragão, a qual veio para casar com o rei Dinis de Portugal, e tornar-se rainha de Portugal. A forte relação estabelecida por Vataça com Portugal, não se explicam apenas na versão oficial, de que nada lhe restaria aqui senão a grande amizade à sua parente Rainha Santa Isabel. Por certo terá havido algo mais e suficientemente importante. Porque, já quatro séculos depois do seu falecimento, ocorrido em 1336, em pleno século XVIII, continuamos a encontrar o seu nome, e nomes relacionados com a sua linhagem, usados por mulheres da sua descendência feminina.
