  • Resumen
    • The practice of using online collaborative writing (OCW) tools by students in the threecycles of higher education is a reality in several countries. Otherwise, these tools are alsoused by researchers in writing scientific papers. It appears that OCW, and the platforms onwhich they are embedded, offer resources that can be applied to organizing the personalknowledge (PKO) of individuals. When investigating the literature, it is possible to findstudies that comment on the use of OCW, especially those that are part of the Google suite, such as Google Docs and Microsoft such as OneDrive. In turn, some studies mention otherplatforms and tools that allow writing collaboratively. Among these tools are platforms inWiki format, blogs, EtherPad, DropBox, Manuscripts.io, Overleaf, and Authorea, tomention those mentioned in the recovered literature. During this use, there is thephenomenon of appropriation which, in the case of OCW, consists of the frequent use ofthe tool, platform, and/or resource to achieve a certain objective or meet some need. Still,on these studies, it is possible to find evidence of the contribution of OCWs to the creationand organization of data and information, not only of the community of users who work ineach context but also in the individual use of these OCW. However, there seem to be fewworks that investigate the appropriation of OCW for the practice of PKO. That said, theobjectives of this investigation are: to know the relationship of students in the third cycleof higher education with the OCW; know which are the most popular OCWs by thesestudents and which resources they use the most; realize if there are occurrences of theappropriation of platforms, tools and/or resources for the practice of PKO, even ifunconsciously; and if they do not exist, investigate what are the possibilities that OCWs,and their resources, present to users and user communities. These objectives will beachieved through a brief literature review, with which it is intended to visit some of theterms discussed here and bring OCW closer to PKO practices. This approach will beexpanded with the application of two research instruments: a questionnaire and a semi--structured interview. These instruments will be applied to students from three doctoralprograms. The research instruments were based on another one used in an investigation, atan international level, on OCW. The results of this investigation intend to inform studentsand researchers about the possibilities of using/appropriating OCW for PKO, thuscontributing to expanding the knowledge of these practices.
