Gracias a la selección genética tenemos cerdas con más de 15 lechones nacidos totales. No obstante, esta es solo una de sus características, el rendimiento de los cerdos en el engorde ha posicionado a las genéticas hiperprolificas en lo alto.
Para conseguir los mejores resultados, debemos ser muy cuidadosos con el manejo de estas genéticas, especialmente ahora ante las nuevas normativas. Para superar los retos del futuro debemos trabajar desde el nacimiento de los lechones con un enfoque multidisciplinar. Para ello, las herramientas de las que disponemos son sanidad, manejo y nutrición. Prevenir y controlar con vacunas y tratamientos terapéuticos con antibióticos. Igualmente, una temperatura y densidad adecuadas en los alojamientos, así como asegurar la calidad del agua y del aire, etc., aportando una dieta rica, que sea fácil de asimilar por los lechones y segura en un entorno sin ZnO, nos ayudarán a superar satisfactoriamente estos retos.
