    San Roberto de Molesmes fue uno de los padres fundadores de la Orden del Císter. Su representación evolucionó muy poco a lo largo de la Edad Media. Siempre se le representó ataviado con el correspondiente hábito blanco cisterciense, o pardo, y portando los atributos habituales en un abad: el báculo y el libro de la regla de San Benito. Puede aparecer aislado, junto a San Bernardo de Claraval o con figuras de santos cistercienses, normalmente, San Alberico y San Esteban de Harding.

    Saint Robert de Molesmes was one of the founding fathers of the Order of the Cistercian. His depiction evolved very little throughout the Middle Ages. He was always depicted wearing the corresponding white Cistercian habit, or dun, and carrying the usual attributes of an abbot: the staff and the book of the rule of Saint Benedict. He usually appears isolated, next to Saint Bernard of Clairvaux or with figures of Cistercian saints, generally Saint Alberic and Saint Stephen of Harding.
