    La restauración eclesiástica en el reino de Jaén supuso la puesta en marcha de la institución capitular, que residiría en Baeza hasta su traslado a Jaén después de que se verificase su conquista, permaneciendo parte de los canónigos en la antigua catedral. La organización de este cabildo coincidió con la difusión que el sello de validación experimentó en los reinos peninsulares durante el siglo XIII. En este artículo se estudia la creación del sello capitular de Baeza-Jaén, su utilización como instrumento de garantía jurídica en la expedición de documentos y su custodia. A través de diversas improntas conservadas en el archivo capitular de Toledo, se analiza la evolución que experimentó la representación iconográfica del campo del sello, evidenciándose importantes modificaciones en el último tercio del siglo XIII.

    Ecclesiastical restoration in the kingdom of Jaen lead to the creation of the institution of the cathedral chapter founded in Baeza until it was transferred to Jaen after its conquest was completed, with part of the canons remaining in the old cathedral. The organization of this chapter coincided with the spread of the use of the validation seal in the Iberian kingdoms during the thirteenth century. This article studies the creation of the chapter seal of Baeza-Jaen, its use as an instrument of legal guarantee for the production of documents and their safekeeping. Through various imprints preserved in the chapter archive of Toledo, we will analyse the evolution of the iconography of the seal, with important changes taking place in the last third of the thirteenth century.
