    • Introduction: Obesity is associated with increased risk of diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease. Which generates work disability and impaired quality of life Objective: detect nutritional and metabolic risk in workers of the State Laboratory of Public Health of the State of Guanajuato Materials and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was performed in 26 workers (21 women and 5 men) of the State Laboratory of Public Health of the State of Guanajuato, anthropometric indicators (weight, height, circumference, body fat percentage) and biochemical indicators (obtained glucose, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, triglycerides, creatinine and urea).

      Results: The average age of participants was 36.5 ± 12 years; 50 percent of women, presented obesity. A 76 % of women and 40% of men presented a body fat percentage above recommended. Mean glucose was 79 ± 9 g / dL Total cholesterol 176 ± 31 mg / dL, HDL cholesterol 12.9 ± 49 mg / dL, LDL cholesterol 23.9 ± 97 mg / dL, triglycerides 152 ± 80 mg / dL, Creatinine 0.6 ± 0.1 mg / dL and urea 25 ± 6.6 mg / dL Conclusion: A 23.8% of metabolic risk was found, to be detected in the majority presence of obesity and body fat, which increases the risk of metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension and dyslipidemia
