Tiempos de ocio y trabajo creativo. Mujeres y desigualdad de género en el campo artístico

    En este artículo analizamos los resultados de un estudio cualitativo que documenta los efectos subjetivos de la indistinción entre tiempos laborales y tiempos de ocio en el sector creativo, poniendo atención a las experiencias de las mujeres que se desenvuelven en el campo de las artes visuales de Santiago de Chile. Discutire - mos, a la luz de los datos empíricos, los obstáculos conceptuales y prácticos de pensar un tiempo de ocio propiamente tal para las mujeres. En ese marco, y retomando el concepto de “trabajo fronterizo” desarrollado por Christena Nippert-Eng (1996), buscaremos visibilizar cómo estas gestiones permanentes impactan de modos específicos en su quehacer profesional y en su subjetividad artística. Reflexionaremos aquí acerca de cómo dicho trabajo fronterizo las lleva a enfrentar una sobrecarga que se agudiza con la maternidad y las empuja a desarrollar diversas estrategias para habitar estas temporalidades intersticiales.

    In this article, we analyze the results of a qualitative study that documents the subjective effects of the indistinction between work and leisure times in the creat - ive sector, focusing on the experiences of women working in the field of visual arts in Santiago, Chile. We will discuss, in the light of empirical data, the conceptual and practical obstacles to imagine a proper leisure time for women. Within this framework, and taking up the concept of "boundary work" developed by Christena Nippert-Eng (1996), we will try to make visible how these permanent managements impact in specific ways on their professional work and their artistic subjectivity. We will reflect here on how this “boundary work” leads them to face an obvious overload that is exacerbated by motherhood, and pushes them to develop various strategies to inhabit these interstitial temporalities
