  • Resumen
    • The article presents an unknown Serbian translation of 14 of Theodore Prodromos’ four-line stanzas which are attested in about ten South Slavonic manuscripts of the 14th to the 16th centuries. The verses are found separately before readings from translation D of the Triodion Synaxaria to which they are related thematically. In view of their distribution two paths of their reception are possible: a) through translation from a hitherto unknown Byzantine codex containing them together with the respective synaxaria, or b) through compilation with version D made by the Serbian translator. The comparison with the critical edition of the Greek verses reveals that the Slavonic text usually follows the reading which was more popular in the Byzantine tradition. Only in some cases does it convey certain isolated variants. The analysis of the copyist’s errors fails to identify the original of the translation more specifically, but allows two main branches of the manuscript tradition to be outlined: there are, on the one hand, the three codices of the Dečani Monastery and, on the other, copies originating from Northern Macedonia. The article is accompanied by an edition of the quatrains on the basis of 9 copies.
