La filosofía del espíritu subjetivo de Hegel comienza, en la primera edición de la Enciclopedia, con la expresión a nivel biopsicológico de las particularidades geográficas en que se concreta el existir humano. Es el tema de los «espíritus naturales». En ellos comienza el desarrollo histórico —Entwicklung— del espíritu. Es ahí donde se puede observar la diferencia entre el tiempo natural y el del espíritu, y donde siguiendo a Scheler, podríamos determinar el puesto del espíritu en el cosmos según Hegel.

Hegel’s philosophy of subjective spirit begins, in the first edition of the Encyclopedia, with the biopsychological expression of the geographical particularities in which human existence develops. It is the subject matter of “natural spirits.” With its thematization begins the historical development —Entwicklung— of spirit. It is there where the difference between natural time and that of the spirit can be observed, and where we can determine, following Scheler, the place of the spirit in the cosmos according to Hegel.
