    A nivel local, en Manta existe poca o nula información sobre el estado de conservación de las aves y del número de especies que existe, puesto que los monitoreos de fauna se restringen a las áreas protegidas de la provincia, sin tomar en cuenta la sinergia ecológica que existe fuera de estos espacios. Por tanto, el presente artículo tiene como objetivo determinar la abundancia y diversidad de la avifauna migratoria boreal en la playa de Tarqui. El área de estudio se sitúa en la playa de Tarqui, en la ciudad de Manta, Ecuador, específicamente desde el mercado de comercialización de productos pesqueros “Playita Mía” hasta la desembocadura del “Río Manta-Burro” y la zona rocosa artificial que limita con el sector conocido como “La Poza”. El área de estudio delimitada en el recorrido del avistamiento de aves tiene aproximadamente 1 km. de longitud, de ancho variable que incluye el mar, y está intervenida por una amplia gama de actividades humanas. Se observan diferencias entre el número de especies en el área de estudio de la Playa de Tarqui, que cuenta con un número de especies máximo de 17 y un mínimo de 11 respecto al área protegida conocida como “Isla Corazón y Fragata”.

    At the local level, in Manta there is little or no information on the conservation status of birds and the number of species that exist, since wildlife monitoring is restricted to the protected areas of the province, without taking into account the ecological synergy that exists outside these spaces. Therefore, the objective of this article is to determine the abundance and diversity of the boreal migratory avifauna on Tarqui beach. The study area is located on the beach of Tarqui, in the city of Manta, Ecuador, specifically from the market for the commercialization of fishing products "Playita Mía" to the mouth of the "Río Manta-Burro" and the artificial rocky area that limits with the sector known as "La Poza". The study area delimited on the bird watching route is approximately 1 km. long, variable width that includes the sea, and is intervened by a wide range of human activities. Differences are observed between the number of species in the Tarqui Beach study area, which has a maximum number of species of 17 and a minimum of 11 with respect to the protected area known as “Isla Corazón y Fragata”.
