    Los museos comunitarios son, desde hace décadas, una de las herramientas más importantes con las que cuentan las comunidades para defender su patrimonio- tanto tangible como intangible-, así como el territorio y un turismo sostenible. Por ello también es importante que se conviertan en herramientas para alcanzar sociedades más igualitarias. En la mayoría de los países donde se han desarrollado los museos comunitarios, son mujeres las encargadas de mantener muchas de sus artesanías tradicionales y también de transmitir a las nuevas generaciones gran parte de los saberes ancestrales. Del mismo modo, con el paso de los años, va incrementándose también su rol como gestoras de los propios museos. Por este motivo creemos que es muy importante que la perspectiva de género se incluya asimismo en las exposiciones, tanto permanentes como temporales, de estos museos. Nuestra experiencia desarrollada en la investigación sobre la perspectiva de género aplicada a los museos arqueológicos, nos permite trasladar también estas reflexiones feministas al ámbito de los museos comunitarios.

    During last decades community museums have been, one of the most important tools that communities have to defend their heritage - both tangible and intangible - and a  territory and  sustainable tourism. Therefore, it is also important that they become tools to achieve more egalitarian societies. In most of the countries where community museums have been developed, women are in charge of maintaining many of their traditional crafts, and also  of transmitting  their ancestral knowledge to the new generations. In the same way, their role as managers of the museums, has also increased over the years. For this reason,  we believe that it is very important that  gender perspective is also included in the exhibitions, both permanent and temporary, in these museums. Our experience in research on the gender perspective applied to archaeological museums,  also allows us to transfer these feminist reflections to the field of community museums.
