Educação em direitos humanos nas escolas brasileiras: contexto, possibilidades e desafios.

    Human rights education is an education aimed at the formation of values, attitudes and actions in individuals, with a view to respecting the dignity of the human person, whether in formal or non-formal education. The general objective of the article was to discuss human rights education in Brazilian schools. The specific objectives were: to briefly explain human rights; to demonstrate the importance of human rights education in basic education; and to present the national plan for human rights education. We used bibliographic research of articles and legislation that dealt with human rights education, education and human rights, and the national plan for education in human rights, thus using a qualitative, explanatory, and descriptive approach. It was possible to conclude that human rights are present in all social spaces and must be respected by all; that human rights education at school makes possible the formation of subjects of rights, who know their rights and duties, thus propagating the culture of human rights in the school and community; and that the PNEDH was an important achievement for Brazil, as a public policy, still needing more collective engagement to make its effective application in all fields of action of human rights education.

    A educação em direitos humanos, é uma educação voltada para a formação de valores, atitudes e ações nos indivíduos, visando o respeito a dignidade da pessoa humana, seja na educação formal ou não-formal. O objetivo geral do artigo foi discutir a educação em direitos humanos nas escolas brasileiras, os objetivos específicos foram: explanar brevemente sobre direitos humanos; demonstrar a importância da educação em direitos humanos na educação básica e apresentar o plano nacional de educação em direitos humanos. Foi utilizada a pesquisa bibliográfica de artigos e legislações que tratassem sobre educação em direitos humanos, educação e direitos humanos e sobre o plano nacional de educação em direitos humanos, sendo assim, utilizada abordagem qualitativa, explicativa e descritiva. Foi possível concluir que os direitos humanos estão presentes em todos os espaços sociais, devendo ser respeitados por todos; que a educação em direitos humanos na escola possibilita a formação de sujeitos de direito, conhecedores de seus direitos e deveres, propagadores assim da cultura dos direitos humanos na escola e comunidade; e que o PNEDH foi uma importante conquista para o Brasil, enquanto política pública, necessitando ainda de mais engajamentos coletivos para tornar sua aplicação efetiva em todos os campos de atuação da educação em direitos humanos.
