Objectives Compare the resistance to cyclic fatigue of the instrument 15.03 of the Endogal system in reciprocal and continuous rotation.
Methods The total sample size for the study was 30 Endogal preinstrumentation 15.03 files that were used by a Motopex endodontic motor (Woodpecker, Guangxi, China). The sample was divided into two groups, 15 samples each. The first was 15 instruments 15.03 that worked in continuous motion at 350 rpm and torque 4. The second group consisted of 15 instruments 15.03 in alternate motion at 450 rpm and torque 4, with turning angles of 120 clockwise and 30 counterclockwise. All tests were performed by a rotary motor attached to a device to allow accurate and reproducible placement of each file within the simulated canal.
Results The 15.03 instrument was significantly more resistant to cyclic fatigue in reciprocal rotation than in continuous rotation.
Conclusions According to the difference in means obtained by the T-student test, the fracture time is predictably longer in reciprocal rotation.
