  • Resumen
    • The main goal of this chapter is to provide a descriptive and critical overview of the some of the most striking and interesting problems and questions related to Romance complex predicates such as causative and perception verb constructions, covering such areas as the properties of the Romance causative construction with reflexes of FACERE and LAXARE, including the distinction between faire-infinitif and faire-par, semantics and properties of infinitival subject, restructuring, clitic climbing, long object movement, auxiliary selection, past participle agreement, the distribution and expression of the embedded agent, argument marking with ditransitive infinitives, behaviour of reflexive predicates, and possible passivization; syntactic differences between the FACERE/LAXARE causative and the MANDARE causative; perception verb constructions and the optionality of restructuring.
