This chapter surveys some of the most salient cases of onomasiological differentiation across the Romance lexicon, investigating the degree of continuity between Latin and Romance and the degree of homogeneity and diversity in the lexical structures attested across Romance today. It covers verbs of motion, verbs and nouns of meteorological activity, body parts, adverbial spatial deixis, designations for human beings, flora and fauna, urbanization, direction expressions.
