    En primer lugar, se presenta una revisión de la literatura más reciente sobre la Reforma Agraria de la Segunda República y el papel determinante de los ingenieros agrónomos, insertándola en los plan-teamientos teóricos sobre su importancia y significado, dado el cariz político y social de la Asociación de Ingenieros y Peritos Agrícolas. En segundo lugar, se analiza su aplicación práctica tanto en tiempos de paz como durante la Guerra Civil española, utilizando una meto-dología de estudio de casos, para terminar valorando de forma global su impacto real sobre el desempleo rural y la economía de la retaguar-dia republicana.

    First, this article presents a review of the latest literature on agrarian reform of the Second Republic, and determining role of agri-cultural engineers. The analysis incorporates in the most recent theo-retical approaches about the importance and meaning of agrarian re-form by taking into account the political and social characteristics of the Association of Agricultural Engineers and Appraisers. Second, it examines the practical application of such reforms in times of peace and Spanish Civil War, using the methodology of case study. Last, the article broadly evaluates its real impact on rural unemployment and the economy of the republican rearguard
