  • Resumen
    • To elucidate on the close relationship that exists between the physical environment, the urban infrastructure and the communities that house theindustries is the intention of the present work, which starts from the explanation and analysis of the empirical planning that was used at the time,to locate so effectively the ideal location of this type of industry. The spatial planning of the territory is linked reciprocally, to a series ofindispensable elements for its development; such as: the hydraulic force ofthe rivers, the sufficient roads for the circulation and supply of goods, theavailability of raw materials in the region, the correct location of a goodnumber of textile industries, depended on the knowledge and intuition ofEstevan de Antuñano, when choosing a geographic zone full of qualities forit. The industry, in addition to benefiting from the natural resources of itsarea, managed to integrate itself into its environment, its built landscape, altering and modifying it, from that communicative interrelation of twoways, communities emerge that even today subsist despite the loss or closure of the factories. From this interrelation arise specialized industrialcorridors or sectors, which were also planned for the need to establish alink with their markets and be able to compete successfully within a highlycompetitive environment.Planning based on the intuition and practical knowledge of Puebla businessmen, to take advantage of their social, economic and service advantages and the possibilities of being able to generate their own infrastructure, based mainly on following certain patterns taken from othersides, had its imprint on a practically empty territory far from the urbancenter, of which today it is still possible to recognize as part of that heritagelegacy that is indissolubly linked to its urban context. The survival and success of each industry created, for the spinning andweaving of cotton, is undoubtedly due to this propitiatory context of whichwe will account in detail.
