    • A mining region located to the north of the province of Teruel, with a largeamount of lignite reserves in its subsoil, in the mid-twentieth century afrenetic extractive activity begins, these initial reserves are exhausted, anda regressive process begins in all aspects. After a while, a gradual closing of industrial facilities begins, there is aneconomic end for the companies while extracting the raw material, oncethe extractive activity is finished, that rich industrial heritage generatedbecomes a burden. In the case of the Andorran basin, we will appreciate considerabledifferences according to whether we speak of industrial heritage generatedby underground mining, which in some way has been left to its own devicesor has been lost; or if we talk about open pit mining, where an integratedrestoration has been made with the extraction process and new sustainablespaces have been created, dedicated to other uses.It would be advisable that this industrial activity collect in their work plans,to devote those facilities generated, in principle should be the operators ifonly for a matter of image, but the case that concerns us have been initiatedby individuals, ex-Miners , by putting the institutions in check to get therecovery, put in value and create an image of the activity for the nextgenerations. The MWINAS, is the result of these actions, has taken a radical turn, allthose heritage elements that suffered the abandonment, destruction andpillage, through its rehabilitation has managed to create a "Museum in theopen" that completes a vision and It has generated a very positive andtotally new image of the area, it has helped to gain a new space for societyin general.
