Es una inflamación de la bolsa serosa que se sitúa en la extremidad proximal del fémur, debido a que dichas bolsas están rellenas de líquido sinovial, están expuestas a todos los procesos de índole inflamatorio que afectan a la cadera. La mayoría de trocanteritis están causadas por microtraumatismos de repetición1.
