Regidor en Ávila, parroquiano de la basílica de San Vicente, poseedor de una magnífica biblioteca y testigo de beatificaciones y de algunos traslados de cuerpos santos, Luis Pacheco de Espinosa escribió a principios del siglo XVII un manuscrito sumamente interesante sobre la iglesia de los Santos Mártires Vicente, Sabina y Cristeta, su arquitectura, imágenes, sepulturas, reliquias y cuerpos sagrados del interior (el de san Pedro del Barco, entre otros), recogiendo varias tradiciones y destacando el papel estelar del templo en el ámbito eclesiástico de la ciudad abulense. Este documento, inédito, con notas añadidas del clérigo Bartolomé Fernández Valencia, se publica en "Cuadernos Abulenses".

Luis Pacheco de Espinosa was Ávila’s mayor and a regular parishioner at San Vicente’s Basilica. He is known to have a wonderful personal library, and was a bearable witness of both beatifications and saints’ transfers. For this reason he wrote a a manuscript on the martyr saints Vicente, Sabina, and Cristeta regarding also the characteristics of this special church and about the «make-up» or discovery of san Pedro del Barco’s tomb. The following article, that uncovers and sheds light on the issue, is followed by the original document, with additional notes by the priest Bartolomé Fernández Valencia, which is published for the first time at "Cuadernos Abulenses".
