El cuerpo femenino, y el hecho social y cultural de ser mujeres, ha convertido a las mismas en un grupo dominado en todas las sociedades y en todas las épocas; ya bien por tomarse su cuerpo como objeto de represión, control y violencia, bajo el deseo del sector poblacional dominante, ya bien como instrumento reproductivo -versus el productivo, masculino por antonomasia-. Desde el control del vientre en Roma, a través del curator ventris, movido por los intereses, principalmente patrimoniales, de dicho sector dominante, a la necesidad de informes médicos en pleno siglo XXI para interrumpir un embarazo, y pasando incluso por intervenciones divinas, en función de la reputación de la gestante, en el medievo, la historia y el derecho nos muestran una serie de circunstancias determinadas que, pese a diferir en matices, encuentran una misma justificación para el control del vientre femenino: la fragilitas sexus.

The female body, and the social and cultural fact of being women, have turned them into a dominated group in all societies and in all time; either by taking his body as an object of repression, control and violence, under the desire of the dominant population sector, or as a reproductive instrument -as opposed to the productive, masculine by excellence-. From the control of the belly in Rome, through the curator ventris, moved by the interests, mainly patrimonial, of the said dominant sector, to the need of medical reports in the XXI century to interrupt a pregnancy, and even through divine interventions, depending on the reputation of the pregnant woman, in de Middle Ages, history and law have shown us a series of specific circumstances that, despite differing in nuances, find the same justification for this control of the female womb: the fragilitas sexus.
