    En el proceso penal, la mediación, no permite resolver conflictos penales. Constituye un complemento a la jurisdicción penal, como instrumento para la consecución de la justicia restaurativa, vinculada a las manifestaciones del principio de oportunidad. El análisis de la interrelación entre principio de oportunidad, justicia restaurativa y mediación, por los beneficios que pueden aportar en el proceso penal, y sus perspectivas de futuro para adaptarse a la sociedad actual, son el objeto de este trabajo.

    In criminal proceedings, mediation does not allow resolving criminal disputes. It constitutes a complement to the criminal jurisdiction, as an instrument for the achievement of restorative justice, linked to the manifestations of the principle of opportunity. The analysis of the interrelation between the principle of opportunity, restorative justice and mediation, due to the benefits they can bring in the criminal process, and their future prospects to adapt to today's society, are the object of this paper.
