    Este artículo revisa la contribución de la historia financiera y monetaria a la historiografía de la integración europea. Debido a la importancia de los asuntos monetarios para la integración europea, han gozado de más interés por parte de los investigadores que los asuntos financieros, aunque la historia financiera y la monetaria estén estrechamente vinculadas. El artículo sostiene que la historia financiera es importante para la historia de la integración europea porque el sector financiero también ha sido importante para la integración europea. Sin embargo, los métodos de la historia financiera, a menudo cuantitativos e inspirados en la economía, o su enfoque en países concretos o en asuntos internacionales no europeos han alejado a veces este campo del de la historia de la integración europea.

    This article reviews the contribution of financial and monetary history to the historiography of European integration. Because of the importance of monetary affairs for European integration, they have enjoyed more interest from researchers than financial affairs, even though financial and monetary history have close links. The article argues that financial history matters for European integration history because the financial sector has also been important for European integration. However, the methods of financial history, often quantitative and inspired by economics, or its focus on individual countries or non-European international affairs have sometimes kept this field away from that of European integration history.

    Cet article étudie la contribution de l'histoire financière et monétaire à l'historiographie de l'intégration européenne. En raison de l'importance des affaires monétaires pour l'intégration européenne, ces dernières ont suscité plus d'intérêt de la part des chercheurs que les affaires financières, même si l'histoire financière et l'histoire monétaire ont des liens étroits. L'article considère que l’histoire financière est importante pour l'histoire de l'intégration européenne car le secteur financier a lui-même joué un rôle non négligeable dans l'intégration européenne. Cependant, les méthodes de l'histoire financière, souvent quantitatives et inspirées de l'économie, ou sa focalisation sur des pays individuels ou sur des affaires internationales non-européennes, ont parfois éloigné ce domaine de celui de l'histoire de l'intégration européenne.
