El sistema nacional de salud ha ido respondiendo a los cambios y a las distintas situaciones de crecimiento del país, lo cual ha constituido un gran reto desde su concepción, desarrollo, estructuración y avance. La Red de Salud Pública, cuenta con Unidades sanitarias: de tipología A, B y C, de acuerdo a su competencia de resolución y grado de complejidad en el 1er Nivel. De la misma manera cuenta con Unidades de Salud de Segundo Nivel: hospitales del día, hospitales básicos, hospitales generales, dependiente de los servicios ofertados mediante su cartera de servicios: Y también cuenta con Unidades de Salud de Tercer Nivel: hospitales especializados, en los cuales se realizan procedimientos de alta complejidad, especialidad y subespecialidad, todos ellos distribuidos en redes de salud, pudiéndose considerar el cumplimiento parcial del contenido obligacional de gestión de salud.
