AbstractFollowing the findings of Hallman, Guilford, Torrance or Vaughan, a series of investigations that offer some tools to measure musical creativity have been developed. However, most of them focus on general aspects.  This proposal aims to design and validate a measuring instrument to evaluate creativity, specifically in future teachers. This tool has been thought to be applied exclusively to thematic musical improvisation based on previous materials. To achieve this objective, I worked with the students from the Music Area of the of the Degree in Primary Education of the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón (Spain). The actions carried out were: (1) the design of the Impro Test, the measurement tool; (2) its validation by a commission of experts; (3) the elaboration of a series of specific musical activities; and (4) the evaluation of such set of exercises. The article presents this intervention process and provides evidences about the effectiveness of the said instrument.
