Filosofía de la Cerámica: cuatro apuntes sobre Estética y Filosofía del Arte

    El artículo Filosofía de la cerámica: cuatro apuntes sobre Estética y filosofía del Arte es la contestación a unas interesantes cuestiones planteadas por Gaspar Aranda Pastor en torno a la contraposición: Arte adjetivo / Arte sustantivo a propósito de la cerámica, que tuvo a bien enviarnos en un amable correo el 31 de julio de 2020. En el primero de esos cuatro apuntes se llega a la conclusión de que las nociones de Arte sustantivo y Arte adjetivo no son dicotómicas, puesto que las funciones adjetivas de la cerámica no han impedido que muchas piezas de cerámica hayan alcanzado tal grado de estilización y canon estético que las aleja del resto de otras piezas ancladas en la necesaria “prosa de la vida”. En el segundo incluimos el Arte de la cerámica dentro del Sistema de las Artes, propuesto por Gustavo Bueno a partir de las ideas de volumen, superficialidad, exterioridad e interioridad. En el tercero valoramos las colecciones y exposiciones de objetos culturales –las cerámicas entre ellos- en función de su condición de reliquias que permiten reconstruir las operaciones del pasado (verum est factum). Y en el último de estos cuatro apuntes ensayamos la tesis según la cual la Artesanía de la cerámica tiene elementos constitutivos que pueden verse desde ideas filosóficas tales como “soportar”, “contener”, “ornamentar”…; y, viceversa, procedimientos técnicos propios del taller artesanal de cerámica que pueden llevarnos a las ideas filosóficas de “moldear”, “tornear”, “hornear”.

    The article "Philosophy of Ceramics: Four Notes on Aesthetics and Philosophy of Art" comes in response to a number of interesting questions posed by Gaspar Aranda Pastor about the opposition between adjective and substantive art in ceramics, which he kindly sent in an e-mail on July 31, 2020. The first of these four notes concludes that the notions of substantive art and adjective art are not dichotomous, since the adjective functions of ceramics have not impeded many ceramic pieces from reaching such a degree of stylization and aesthetic canon that distances them from other pieces anchored in the necessary "prose of life". The second includes the art of ceramics within the system of the arts, as put forward by Gustavo Bueno on the basis of the ideas of volume, superficiality, exteriority and interiority. The third assesses collections and exhibitions of cultural objects (including ceramics) in terms of their status as relics that enable us to reconstruct the operations of the past (verum est factum). The last of these four notes contend that ceramic craftsmanship has constitutive elements that can be seen from the perch of philosophical ideas such as "supporting", "containing" and "ornamenting" and, vice versa, technical procedures proper to a ceramic craft workshop that can lead to the philosophical ideas of "molding", "throwing" and "firing".
