¿Tienen algo que decir los católicos en la filosofía de hoy y de mañana?

    Aceptando que se pueda hablar de «filosofía cristiana», se plantea la cuestión de qué tipo de contribución pueden hacer los filósofos católicos a la filosofía de hoy y de mañana. Teniendo en cuenta que la filosofía moderna y contemporánea es antro-pocéntrica (a diferencia del cosmo-centrismo griego y del teocentrismo medieval), el artículo considera que la filosofía moderna y contemporánea no ha logrado hasta ahora la síntesis de sus dos líneas de fuerza, la razón y la libertad, o, en otras palabras, la ciencia y el humanismo, debido a una comprensión positivista de la razón y a una forma subjetivista de entender la libertad. La posible aportación de la filosofía católica a la filosofía actual consiste en hacer posible esta síntesis, contribuyendo a una concepción más abierta de la razón y a una compren-sión más realista y no subjetivista de la libertad humana, que puede reali-zarse en torno a una adecuada con-cepción personalista del ser humano.

    Assuming that it is possible to speak of «Christian philosophy», the question arises as to what kind of contribution Christian philosophers (and, more specifically, Catholic philosophers) can make to the philosophy of today and tomorrow. Considering that modern and contemporary philosophy is anthropocentric (as opposed to Greek cosmocentrism and medieval theocentrism), the article considers that modern and contemporary philosophy has so far failed to achieve the synthesis of its two lines of force, reason and freedom, or, in other words, science and humanism, because of a positivist understanding of reason and a subjectivist way of understanding freedom. The possible contribution of Catholic philosophy to current philosophy consists in making this synthesis possible, contributing to a more open concept of reason and a more realistic, non-subjectivist understanding of human freedom, which can be achieved around an adequate personalist conception of the human being.
