    No son pocas las voces de cientí-ficos y filósofos que asumen el pensa-miento racional y la creencia religiosa como realidades contradictorias en-tre sí. De la mano del progreso de la ciencia moderna nace una fuerte ten-dencia contra el teísmo. Sin embargo, cabe preguntarse si la ciencia rompe, taxativamente, con la religión; ¿ser creyente es, entonces, decidirse por la irracionalidad? A través del presente artículo se ofrece una crítica al ateís-mo propiamente cientificista así como una propuesta de recomprensión de la fe ante el ateísmo existencialista contemporáneo; la fe se interpreta aquí como una respuesta cognitiva y existencial a la condición filosófica (li-bre) del ser humano ante la realidad y su propia existencia.

    There are many voices of scientists and philosophers who assume rational thought and religious belief as mutually contradictory realities. Hand in hand with the progress of modern science, a strong tendency against theism is born. However, it is worth wondering if science automatically breaks with religion; Is being a believer, then, deciding on irrationality? Through this article a critique of the atheism of scientism is offered as well as a proposal for a re-understanding of faith in front of contemporary existentialist atheism; faith is interpreted here as a cognitive and existential response to the philosophical (free) condition of the human being wondering about the reality and his own existence.
