Resumen de Paradigmi dell’eguaglianza. Note in margine alla teoria di Aldo Schiavone
This paper deals with the historical development of the idea of equality. In the first place, I deal with the historical character of the different criteria of equality. In the second place, I propose some conceptual distinctions concerning the idea of equality and its use in legal and political discussions. In the third place, I recognize the important contribution of Aldo Schiavone to a theory of equality, especially with regard to the distinction between three paradigms of equality (Roman, modern, and a new paradigm that we still have to create). Schiavone’s work originally suggests that individuals are not necessarily the primary terms of a relationship of equality.
