Resumen de Fotovoz: empoderando al alumnado universitario sobre cuerpos, salud y género

  Introducción: Fotovoz es una metodología pedagógica y de investigación que utiliza la fotografía y el diálogo participativo para que las personas reflexionen sobre los problemas que les afectan, animarlos a actuar y proponer cambios. Objetivo: El propósito fue utilizar este método para empoderar a estudiantes universitarios (futuros maestros y maestras), para la toma de conciencia sobre hábitos saludables, cuerpos y estereotipos de género y emprender acciones para el cambio. Método: El proyecto comenzó con una formación crítica de género sobre salud y cuerpos, la metodología fotovoz y cuestiones éticas involucradas. Las estudiantes, con sus teléfonos móviles, tomaron individualmente fotografías que evocaran esta temática y siguieron un proceso de análisis y discusión sobre sus imágenes y hallazgos como grupo, a través del diálogo sobre la salud personal y colectiva. Resultados: Las estudiantes tomaron 90 fotografías y organizaron una exposición final donde mostraron una selección de sus imágenes e ideas, con el propósito de visibilizar sus propios problemas y ofrecer posibles soluciones a los responsables académicos que toman decisiones que les afectan como alumnado universitario. Conclusiones: La metodología fotovoz permitió abordar temas de salud, cuerpo y género desde una perspectiva interdisciplinar innovadora para estudiantes universitarios, fortaleciendo el diálogo participativo y visibilizando sus inquietudes y necesidades en la institución universitaria.

  Introduction: Photovoice is a pedagogical and research method that uses photography and participatory dialogue to help people reflect on the problems that affect them, encourage them to act and propose changes. Objective: The purpose was to use this method for the empowerment of university students (future teachers), to make them aware of healthy habits, bodies and gender stereotypes, and to take actions for change. Method: The project began with a critical training about gender in relation to health and bodies, the photovoice methodology and ethical issues involved. The students, with their mobile phones, individually took photographs that evoked these themes. Then they analyzed their images and findings as a group, through dialogue on personal and collective health. Results: The students took 90 photographs and organized a final exhibition to make their own problems visible and offer possible solutions to the academic leaders. Conclusions: The photovoice methodology addresses health, body and gender issues with an interdisciplinary perspective for university students, developing participatory dialogue and making their concerns and needs visible.
