Resumen de Opinions of Future Elementary School Teachers Towards Teachers’ Competence in Collaboration for Teamwork

Vlasta Hus, Polona Jančič Hegediš

  • In this chapter teamwork is presented as one of the basic competences of teachers. It is becoming an increasingly important way of organising learning and teaching. In this empirical study, aim was to investigate the attitudes towards teamwork of third-year first level Bologna students and first-year second level Bologna students in primary education studies at the Faculty of Education at the University of Maribor. The results showed that future teachers have prior knowledge of teamwork. They recognise greater work efficiency as the main advantage, while identifying the difficulties of teachers to adapt as the main disadvantage. Elementary education students in the lower year indicate that they consider the opinions of others to be the most important qualities for effective teamwork, while upper year students require organisational skills. Students find clear and distinct roles necessary for teamwork. The study revealed that students, who will become teachers, are interested in accomplishing effective teamwork and developing the competence of collaboration.
