    Dentro del sistema de medios para la enseñanza de la Historia de América, el libro de texto constituye un referente de imprescindible prioridad para los estudiantes, permitiendo la correcta formación de representaciones históricas, el desarrollo de la independencia cognoscitiva y la formación de métodos de trabajo científico. Estas razones nos llevan a reflexionar acerca de las posibilidades que brinda el uso del libro de texto en esta disciplina en el nivel preuniversitario y se ejemplifica la variedad de acciones para su tratamiento.

    Within the system of average for the education of the History of America, the text book constitutes referring of an essential priority for the students, allowing correct formation of historical representations, the development of independence and the formation of methods of scientific work. These reasons take to us to reflect about the possibilities that the use of the text book in this discipline in the pre-university level offers and the variety of actions for its treatment is exemplified.
