    En 1966, tras la campaña de Nubia, España obtuvo el permiso para excavar en Heracleópolis Magna (actual Ehnasya el-Medina), siendo la primera concesion a nuestro país por parte del Gobierno egipcio. Entre 1968 y 1979 Almagro y Presedo excavaron en la Necrópolis del Primer Periodo Intermedio/inicios del Reino Medio, momento en que Heracleópolis era la capital de Egipto durante las Dinastías IX y X. Entre 2000 y 2013 continuaron los trabajos de los españoles en la necrópolis siendo dirigidos por M.ª Carmen Pérez Die.

    El presente estudio se centra en un alto dignatario de la ciudad, de nombre Tchau. Se trata solo de un fragmento de la pared de la capilla de su tumba, cuya ubicación exacta se desconoce.

    El funcionario puede considerarse como uno de los oficiales con más rango en la ciudad dentro de la alta Administración del Estado, de acuerdo con sus títulos que aparecen mencionados en las inscripciones de su monumento funerario.

    In 1966, after the Nubia campaign, Spain obtained permission to excavate in Herakleopolis Magna (present-day Ehnasya el-Medina), being the first concession to our country by the Egyptian Government. Between 1968 and 1979 Almagro and Presedo excavated in the Necropolis of the First Intermediate Period/early Middle Kingdom, when Keracleopolis was the capital of Egypt during the IX and X Dynasties. Between 2000 and 2013 the work of the Spaniards continued in the cemetery, being directed by M.ª Carmen Pérez-Die.

    The present study focuses on a high dignitary of the city, named Tchaw. It is only a fragment of the wall of the chapel of his tomb, whose exact location is unknown. The official can be considered as one of the highest-ranking in the city within the high administration of the State, according to his titles that are mentioned in the inscriptions of his funerary monument.
